Inhibitor Tests

Typically, a corrosion inhibitor must effectively protect a pipeline system that may be used in a wide range of conditions. For example, different flow velocities, water-to-oil ratios, etc. For this reason, it is not possible to create a single test that simulates field conditions in the laboratory. In order to evaluate the performance of an inhibitor, it is necessary to perform a series of laboratory tests, each of which evaluates a specific characteristic of the inhibitor.

Mirab Sanat’s knowledge-based company is one of the leading companies in the manufacture of equipment for checking the behavior of corrosion inhibitors. The main equipment made in order to check the behavior of corrosion inhibitors in Mirab Sanat company is as follows:

  • Wheel test: The wheel test is considered a screening test in the initial stage of the evaluation of inhibitors. This test was performed in accordance with the NACE 1D182 standard and is considered the first test in evaluating the performance of inhibitors.
  • Rotating cage test: It is a very economical method for checking the corrosion rate and evaluating the corrosion behavior of inhibitors in turbulent flows. This method is used to check the performance of inhibitors in higher turbulences. This device is designed and manufactured according to ASTM G184 standards.
  • Jet Impingement: The jet impingement test is a new method to evaluate the corrosion behavior of inhibitors in a highly turbulent system. This test provides the possibility of checking the corrosion performance with electrochemical tests. This device is designed and manufactured according to ASTM G208 standards.
  • Top of line corrosion: This test is a highly recommended method by the NACE standard institute. This test is designed to check the effectiveness of inhibitors in conditions where corrosion occurs at the top of the line due to three-phase systems and thermal gradients in pipes.
